We are looking for 2 Senior Network Administrator for an agency within the Department of Commerce in Washington DC.


Assure quality and compatibility. All hardware/firmware/software/network changes must be reviewed, tested, and approved before being deployed to production. This function may include creating quality and change control procedures, checklists, test plans; establishing test environments used for piloting and pre-production roll-outs; documenting results and defects; performing remedies or recommending new solutions; and retesting after defects are corrected. This function also includes developing full analyses and handling approaches before making any infrastructure changes to ensure potential impacts to key business applications are minimized and fully communicated in advance.

Support Configuration Management functions.
Perform day-to-day network administration and operations including but not limited to:
Install, uninstall, and/or configure hardware, software, and network components.
Manage virtual and physical networks.
Manage network user accounts and directories.
Monitor the health of the networks.
Optimize infrastructure architecture and components to ensure maximum uptime, high security, and high performance.


  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science (or other technical discipline) or equivalent experience from an accredited college and/or university
  • 8+ years of experience in network administration; managing hardware and software assets and configurations
  • Prior work experience:  Managing an environment of 1,000+ international users
  • Certifications:  ITIL v3 and CCNP, MCSE

Knowledge of Solar Winds Engineering Toolkit, Lotus Notes Administration and Blackberry Administration is a plus.
